The Stretta Procedure: Tom Oberheim and the new SEM

I don't think hardcore gamers or apple fan boys have anything on motivated synth nerds in terms of breaking news coverage.

that bit about 3:00 in really brought me to my feet. too perfected. precisely. and did you hear him talk about "individualistic qualities". it's never been about the features. limitations give an instrument its character.

"if you like hardware, you might as well get something that has some real character to it. "

there's your marketing headline. and also explains why i am purchasing an old roland vp-330 next week.

    thanks for posting this!

I get the feeling there will be those that won't be pleased at me when I get mine and use it with Ableton Live, an Akai APC40 and an Apple MacBook Pro (always been a bit of an Apple "fanboy"). Been using synths since I was a kid, grew up with these in the 70's and 37 years later will be happy to be using old and NEW technology together! Welcome back Tom, you have been missed!

This pleases me beyond what I can write here - so I guess I'll make an entire blog post about it - anyway thanks for posting this.

I'm so glad to see the Synth & Electronic music community to acknowledge Tom Oberheim. imho He deserves the rights to his name back. Whether he produces anything or not. Historically, and possibly for the Synth community as a whole, I feel it is just as important for Oberheim as it was for Bob Moog to be the rightful owner of his own name.

thats my $5 worth. I'll leave it there.

THE BEST of so many > I owned three of these: modified them as the front jack panel cv matrix that Tom made available within the units and in fact used them with the awesome ARP 2600.

Those recordings remain superior to any virtual Synth clones to this day.

Simple fact: accept no substitutes for true "expressive" instruments.

Yes, you will have to learn these: that is called being a "musician".

The choice for Composers who know just how lame the entire virtual scene
has become as nothing but templates of yawns.

You notice that software designers hide behind slick logos?
You notice also that they have no commitments to true expression.
They are far more interested in internet presence than in Music.

And that is why American fashion music is dead to the larger world.

You cannot download talent: or true innovation as "sonic" origination.
